Wind turbine rules blasted
LANDOWNER John Noble, of Ardkinglas, Argyll, attacked Government rules for the supply of electricity from private wind turbines.
He has put forward a proposal to build at least 15 wind turbines to supply a range of businesses.
He said the regulations were slowly strangling the potential power source. Professor Phil Thomas, principal of the Scottish Agricultural College, pointed out that even with the deregulation of the UK power supply market it was still far from being “free and open”.
He said if the Government got it right, there was a chance for Scottish farmers to benefit from wind power, especially in remote areas.
