Wiseman sews up £1m Amco deal
ROBERT Wiseman Dairies has won 99.6% acceptance from members of the Aberdeen Milk Company (Amco) for its 1m offer for the farmers co-operative.
The Wiseman offer of 1.50 a share would mean an average pay-out of 7,000 to the 118 dairy farming members of the co-op.
Amco dairy farm members produce about 87m litres of milk a year, 91% of which is already sold to Robert Wiseman Dairies.
Wiseman has promised to pay Aberdeen producers the same price it pays to farmers in the central belt.
That should translate into a boost of more than 1p a litre or about 6,000 a year for the average producer.
Wisemans operations in Aberdeen are based on the Tullos Diary, which has to import 30% of supplies from out of the area.
The future of Amcos Twin Spires creamery, which has about 40 employees who produce milk powder from surplus supplies south of the Border, is in question.
