WTO to meet on bananas
THE World Trade Organisations dispute settlement body will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) to review the European Unions revised banana import regime.
The European Union and Ecuador have sought the panel decision after the USA threatened the EU with sanctions.
The USA complains that the new scheme continues to discriminate unfavourably with Latin American bananas and US banana distributors.
Washington has threatened to take punitive action against a wide range of EU products unless changes are made.
