Yet more round baler/wrappers on the market
Grassland 2000 – this years shop window for all that
is new in grassland machinery – took place last
week at the Bath and West showground. Andy Collings
and Andy Moore report
KRONE did it two years ago, Vicon did it two weeks ago, and New Holland did it at the Grassland event. It seems the future of round baler/ wrapper units is now assured.
New Hollands version is based on the companys 544 fixed chamber round baler which has been married to a Swiss-built wrapping system – the Tawi 500.
Manufactured by Grunderco, New Hollands distributor in Switzerland, other versions are available for attachment to 600 series round balers.
Designed to work equally well on flat or sloping ground, transfer of a bale from the chamber to the wrapping table – and the ensuing wrapping operation – is activated by a single button. Once wrapped by the units twin satellite film stretchers the bale can then be either unloaded immediately, held until a convenient drop point is reached, or carried until the next bale is ready for wrapping. This latter option enables two bales to be dropped close together to hasten collection.
Transport width of the tandem axled baler/wrapper is 2.75m and overall length extends to 6.2m.
