Zeneca in Chinese herbicide venture
ZENECA Agrochemicals has begun work on a $110 million (£68m) herbicide manufacturing plant in China.
The plant, a joint venture with three Chinese partners, will make paraquat, the active ingredient in Zenecas Gramoxone.
Zeneca says it sees enormous potential in the Chinese agrochemicals market which it claims has been growing at 20% a year in the last five years.
The agrochemical giant calculates that the herbicide market was worth $450m last year.
