2 Sisters named as new Welsh ‘anchor company’

2 Sisters parent company, Boparan Holdings, has been named as one of six new “anchor companies” for Wales, selected by the Welsh government as drivers of economic growth.

To qualify as an anchor company, the business has to have an international dimension, with either a Welsh headquarters or a significant corporate presence in the principality.

The Welsh government works closely with all the companies individually, but also brings them together regularly to share best practice as they look to create jobs, growth and wealth.

Each anchor company also has a dedicated account manager, appointed to strengthen the links between the state and the private sector.

“These six companies are all important employers in Wales and are vital to creating growth in their respective sectors,” said economy minister Edwina Hart. “I am focused on ensuring we continue to support all anchor companies, growing their jobs and wealth to the benefit of the Welsh economy.”

Boparan Holdings, which has five sites in Wales, is joining the existing group of 38 anchor companies, which includes household names such as British Telecommunications, Airbus, Moneysupermarket.com and Lloyds Bank.
