Alltech launches Mycotoxin Management Programme

Animal nutrition and health companyAlltech has launched an integrated Mycotoxin Management Programme, designed to help farmers detect and address the risk from over 37 mycotoxins.

Mycotoxins are toxic contaminants which are produced by moulds and can be found in finished feed, forages and bedding, affecting animal health and feed efficiency.

To counter this threat Alltech has created a MIKO programme, which is based on the principles of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), and is designed to identify mycotoxin risks on farm and at feed mills.

Once identified, feed mills and producers can create a plan to minimise the risks of mycotoxins.

Dr Swamy Haladi from the mycotoxin management team said: “As the price of feed rises, the use of alternative raw ingredients increases and the need for improved feed efficiency is paramount.

“It is now more important than ever to have a documented mycotoxin control programme in place.”

The programme will further harness the extended capabilities of Alltech’s new mycotoxin binder Mycosorb A+, which now has a greater absorption capacity and increased efficiency.

Ian Leach, regional director of Alltech UK, said: “With Mycosorb A* at the core of our Mycotoxin Management Programme we can offer customers solutions that limit the effects of more mycotoxins than ever before, protecting their bottom line.”
