Pure-breed chickens stolen in New Year’s Eve raid

Police are appealing for information about the theft of eight pure-breed chickens – including one award winner – from Hanbury, near Redditch.

Eight brown and gold Welsummer chickens – three cockerels and five hens – were taken from pens in unlocked sheds at Park Hall Farm, Hanbury, sometime between midnight and 6am on Tuesday, 31 December.

The birds had been bred by their owner, and included an award-winning cockerel worth up to £100.

It is believed by investigators that the offenders targeted the birds, and appeared to know what they were looking for.

Witnesses or those with information are asked to contact West Mercia Police by calling 101 and quoting “172-s-311213” or ringing the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
