A young Polish worker has been killed after a frozen rack of chickens fell on him at the Cappoquin Poultry chicken processing plant earlier this week.
The Belfast Telegraph reported yesterday that the 23-year-old man, named as Tomasz Klodnicki, died in a cold storage room at the factory in Co Waterford.
According to the newspaper, the Polish worker received severe head injuries, after a rack of frozen poultry collapsed on him, as he loaded pallets.
Two separate investigations into the incident are taking place. And the Health and Safety Authority confirmed it is investigating the cause of the incident.
Cappoquin Poultry was saved earlier this year after suffering financial problems. The death of the worker is said to be the first of its kind at the factory.
