Description
The land at Lot 3 is an attractive block of pasture with a pair of cottages, sitting alongside the River Wylye . Grazed by a herd of beef cattle, the fields are bound by stock proof fencing, mature hedgerows and a network of drainage ditches. A redundant building, known as the Old Slaughterhouse, lies in a small coppice at the centre of the land, which would make a wonderful fishing bothy , subject to planning permission.
The Lot includes 673 yards of double banked and 924 yards of single bank chalk stream fishing on the River Wylye, known for its wild brown trout and grayling. The River Wylye is known to be one of the most unspoilt chalk streams, an ecosystem almost unique to the south of England. Being a tributary of the Hampshire Avon, it is designated as a SSSI and SAC. The fishing is currently under licence to the Bapton Fly Fishing Association, catch records can be provided on request.
