Arable Insights Live Event 1
The first event brought together growers, industry experts and technical specialists for a day of practical demonstrations, expert discussions and knowledge sharing at Dyson Farming Research. Attendees explored the latest innovations in crop management, machinery, nutrient efficiency and sustainable farming practices, alongside opportunities to network with others across the sector.
Following the success of the inaugural Arable Insights Live event in May 2026, Farmers Weekly is bringing the event back with a new focus on potatoes.
With potato growers facing increasing pressure from difficult markets, rising costs and the loss of key inputs, Arable Insights Live: Potatoes will explore practical ways to navigate these challenges.
The event will bring together expert knowledge, field-based learning and the latest research to help growers make informed decisions and improve performance on farm.

Moving to 25cm row spacing
Moving to 25cm row spacing offers the opportunity to maintain yields while achieving improved weed control and better plant health. But what are the pros and cons? Does the ability to hoe between the rows outweigh any yield penalty of wider spacing? Are overall costs reduced?
Focus: Benefits and implications of a 25cm row spacing strategy.
Phosphate availability and spray quality
In this practical field session, De Sangosse will explore how phosphate becomes locked up in the soil and what can be done to improve bioavailability and uptake during key early growth stages.
We'll also look at how water quality influences pesticide performance, and the simple steps growers can take to manage spray water more effectively through real-world examples.
Variety selection on a farm
Variety selection is now more important than ever. Matt Bull agroservice manager at KWS will guide you through the variety characteristics and how they best fit on farm. This will also be an opportunity to see KWS’s new Recommended List candidate varieties for 2026 which include the highest yielding variety for both treated and untreated yield.
