Crop Concern in Yorkshire

Having had no rain since May, David Hinchliffe was concerned crops were going off too quickly at Bank House Farm, Yorkshire. If the weather continued to be hot then harvest would be running a few days ahead of last year, he said.

“We started cutting wheat in August last year, but we should have some cut in July this year.”

He said it was too early to tell how much the crops had been affected by the heat, but was concerned that the wheat was finishing too quickly.

He planned to start cutting oilseed rape and early wheats by next week.
