Farmers considering using energy crops to produce heat can now compare suitable boilers with a free online guide.

The National Non-Food Crops Centre’s Energy Crop Boiler Guide lists the biomass boilers available in the UK which are suitable for miscanthus and willow. It also provides details of the other feedstocks they can burn, energy output and links to suppliers.

Boilers can be sorted by manufacturer, energy output and their ability to burn particular feedstocks.

The guide can be downloaded at www.PowerPlants2020.co.uk, a new website designed to advise farmers on energy crop and anaerobic digestion opportunities. It features independent agronomy advice, grant information, cost calculators, and a map of operational biomass power stations.
