Dairy Event 2009: Hygiene demo at DairyCo stand

How clean are your hands? This will be one of the questions asked on the DairyCo stand at this year’s Dairy Event and Livestock Show.

Milk quality and mastitis control will be one of the main features. “We will be bringing a clinical monitoring system on to the stand so visitors can swab their hands and see how much bacteria is present – even on seemingly clean hands,” says a DairyCo representative.

The hygiene monitoring system helps assess hygiene standards and on farm cleaning procedures to help minimise transfer of bad bacteria that can cause disease.

“The machine measures the amount of bad bacteria which then indicates overall biological contamination of surfaces and milking equipment.”

The test is easy to use and will shows how important it is to ensure cleaning and hygiene procedures are tight.
