A two-year-old boy has died following an accident with a tractor.

Robert Hammersley was killed on a farm in Ashbourne, Derbyshire on Friday (18 September).

Paramedics and an air ambulance were called to the farm, which has not been identified, but the boy was pronounced dead.

An inquest into the death was opened and adjourned on Monday (21 September) at Derby Coroner’s Court.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said officers were notified of the incident at about 11.45pm on Friday.

“We received a call from the ambulance service about an incident involving a two-year-old and a tractor.

“The Health and Safety Executive have been informed of the incident and are investigating the matter.”

An HSE spokeswoman said inspectors were aware of the accident and had visited the site.
