Anyone with a soft spot for Ford tractors of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s should get themselves pretty sharply to Cheffins‘ auction of a variety of well-known old Fords at 90 Front Street, Slip End, Luton, Bedfordshire LU1 4BS on 28 June.

The tractors were part of the Felix McDaid collection, currently being disposed of. They include Ford 3000s, 4000s, 5000s, 7000s, Fordson Majors, a Fordson Super Major, a 5610, 6810 two 7610s, a 1966 Doe 130 Dual Drive and a TW25. There are also some MFs, including TEF20s and 135s.

The 1966 Dual Drive is likely to attract particular interest. This model, with its characteristic twin engines, came about as a result of the ending of production of the Doe Super Major Triple D and the introduction of the new Ford 5000 built at the Basildon plant.

The example on sale was originally sold to Bidwells’ Church Farm, Trumpington, Cambridge in 1966, then worked on two different farms in Warwickshire before joining a vintage collection in 1996.
