ABP offers fixed price for calves
THE meat processing company ABP is to offer fixed-price contracts to dairy farmers who finish bull calves for beef once the calf processing scheme ends.
The group plans to source 60,000 animals a year and lower quality carcasses will be sought – grades from P to O-minus.
The meat will be minced, diced or used for the manufacture of burgers and pies, although ABP declined to disclose prices.
