Films may check disease
FILM-FORMING polymers may have a role in disease control, according to work at SACs Auchincruive campus.
Direct effects on fungal growth and development have been seen. As film-forming polymers are biodegradable, non-toxic and relatively cheap they may prove a viable alternative to conventional fungicides. The trials are looking at products which are widely used as anti-transpirtants and spray adjuvants. Results suggest some eradicant effect. *
