Fishmeal prices threaten Chinas poultry

CHINAS poultry farmers are among those to be worst hit by soaring fishmeal prices.

Prices have risen because of the El Niño weather phenomenon, reports the Financial Times.

The International Fishmeal and Oil Manufacturers Association predicted world production of fish meal this year would not exceed 4.5 million tonnes, compared with 6.5m tonnes in 1996.
