Fuel protesters meet to decide strategy

By FWi staff

TWO hundred farmers and hauliers involved in last weeks fuel protests gather on Thursday (21 Sep) afternoon in Peterborough, Cambs.

Those attending the meeting, hosted by the Road Haulage Association, will consider a strategy to take the demands of campaigners directly to the government.

They are likely to elect one or more representatives to put forward the case of the different groups which made up the protesters.

In a separate meeting, the owners of the biggest UK lorry fleets are to meet ministers to press their case for lower duty on diesel.

On Wednesday (20 Sep) the Conservatives said they would cut fuel by 3ppl if elected in the next election.
