Incomes fall 75% in two years
FARM incomes fell by 75% over the last two years, according to a new report published by the National Farmers Union (NFU).
In three sectors – pigs and poultry, mixed farms, and lowland cattle and sheep farms – net incomes are forecast to be negative this year.
Nine out of 10 rural businesses have laid off staff in the last year and say business confidence is at an all-time low, the report claims.
