Insect study may save African crops

SCIENTISTS at Stirling University have been granted 34,000 for research which it is hoped will save crops in Africa.

They will be studying the army worm caterpillar, which is capable of destroying entire crops.

They will try to find whether the caterpillars diet, which contains traces of cyanide from star grass, makes it immune to birds.
