Makers urged to cut price of veterinary products

ANIMAL health companies have been urged to reduce the price of their veterinary products to help farmers survive the crisis in farming.
Many livestock producers claim that identical animal health products sold in this country often cost 50% less in countries such as Ireland and New Zealand.
“We are assured that these are the same products and, if that is the case, there is no justification for such discrepancies,” said a spokesman for the Farmers Union of Wales.
Hard-pressed farmers might compromise animal welfare by using poor-quality veterinary medicines unless prices are reduced, the spokesman added.
