Retailers seek to avoid GM-fed livestock
J SAINSBURY is leading several of Britains supemarkets in attempting to secure livestock not fed on genetically modified (GM) crops.
They have decided they should not be selling meat products from suppliers who use GM feed.
The consortium members include Safeway, Marks and Spencer, Northern Foods, Nestle and Unilever. They have already begun contacting their suppliers about the origin of feed used.
