Scottish landowners in need of new image
Scotish landowners may change the name of their representative organisation in a bid to win a wider constituency.
The Scottish Landowners Federation is offering a case of whisky for the person who can come up with a new name. It wants to attract crofters and community groups in addition to its traditional member – “a tweeded gent in plus-fours who shoots anything that moves,” according to its convenor Andrew Dingwall Fordwyce.
The new name, and new image to attract crofters and community groups, is hoped to be in place for the Scottish parliament, which is expected to put land reform near the top of its agenda.
