‘Tough time’ for beef exports
BRITISH beef is going to have a tough time getting back its export markets, according to a source in a review of meats export potential by the Financial Times.
The article reprises the recent history of Britains attempts to recover the trade.
The Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) is currently running a campaign to encourage export sales.
But it has to overcome discouraging findings from consumer research in France and Italy.
Mauritius, Cyprus, Gibraltar and Trinidad and Tobago have ended restrictions on British beef. The MLC is hoping that South Africa will do the same.
