Diet feeders in the 24 to 30 cu m range manufactured by Trioliet can now be fitted with a two-speed drive system which is claimed to reduce fuel consumption by as much as 30%.
An automatic system, the transmission senses when there are changes in loadings during the mixing process and changes the gear ration accordingly.
In low range the mixing auger will be turning at 19rpm and in high, at 31rpm. A programmable mode allows the operator to have the auger rotating quickly to speed up say, the processing of straw, and at a slower speed when the main ingredients have been loaded.
The speed can be increased once more to ensure the mixed feed is fully unloaded.
Available as an option, the new transmission puts about £3,000 onto the cost of a diet feeder.
