The UK's largest egg packer is investing nearly £250,000 to help its organic producers cover the extra cost of the recent change in feed rules.

Noble Foods believes the increase will fully cover the extra cost incurred by its organic producers as a result of the non-oragnic feed allowance falling from 15% to 10% on 1 January for all organic poultry.

Michael Kent, CEO of Noble Foods said: "Further to the proactive role which we took in securing unprecedented price increases for all of our producers during 2007, I am very happy that we are starting the year with good news for our organic producers.

"We are fully committed to taking the lead in securing better terms for our producers and are passing back the full pence per dozen increase achieved on all organic eggs supplied, which also applies to surplus eggs supplied to meet fluctuations in consumer demand."
