LAMMA 2009: Sprite pallet bandsaw could make a good farm diversification

Sprite Manufacturing from Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, was showing off its pallet-stripping bandsaw to farmers as a potential farm diversification.

It reckons there could be a good business in buying in damaged pallets cheaply, stripping them down to their constituent parts and making new ones that can be sold for £3-8 each to firms in industrial units.

The saw itself costs £14,000 and, manned by two people, can deal with 300-500 pallets a day. It also means fewer pallets going into landfill.
