A set of special boards highlighting the achievements of industry specialists who have been awarded the Temperton Fellowship in Poultry Research have been unveiled at Harper Adams College in Shropshire.
The English Oak boards list in gold all the contributors to the fellowship over its 22 year history, since it was founded in 1989 in honour of Dr Harold Temperton, poultry husbandry director at Harper Adams from 1951 to 1974.
Principal of Harper Adams, Dr David Llewellyn, said the boards exemplified the college's work to connect with the industry. "Over the course of the last year, in trying to make sure that our connection to the industry is added to, we have done an awful lot," Mr Llewellyn said.
"But there remains a lot to do and there are challenges ahead. There are areas of work in which we need to develop our thinking.
Each year an appointed speaker presents a research report to industry experts and others at the Farmers Club in London, with 24 fellows currently involved.
The latest Temperton Research Fellow is Richard Hutchinson, sales and marketing director of Aviagen Turkeys Ltd, who is is set to present his report on 6 June 2011.
