A suspected case of foot and mouth disease has been announced by DEFRA on a cattle farm near Egham in Surrey.

Although this is a suspected foot and mouth disease case, DEFRA have already ordered a cull of the animals in question as a precautionary measure and a temporary control zone of 3km has been set up around the area.

DEFRA minister Hilary Benn is to return to London to take part in a COBRA meeting at 17.00 this afternoon alongside the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown once results have been announced.
