Eurotier 2010 opens in Hanover

The world’s largest livestock exhibition, Eurotier, has opened in Hanover, Germany, with about 2000 exhibitors and companies from 49 different counties presenting their products.

During the week-long event 120,000 people are expected to visit the sprawling 18ha site which deals with every aspect of livestock farming from pigs to cattle, poultry, aquaculture and, for the first time, bioenergy.

The Bio Energy Decentral exhibition will run beside Eurotier this year, with 550 exhibitors from 20 different countries expounding the benefits of generating small amounts of power directly where it is required on farms.

During the week producers can speak directly with equipment, feed, breeding and supplement suppliers, and attend a variety of training seminars and Q&A sessions with researchers. A number of these are translated into English.

Eurotier also comprises the German Young Farmers congress with 5000 new entrants to the industry expected to attend training sessions, as well as discussions about the future of their industry.

Farmers Weekly will be reporting from Hanover about the developments of the week and the issues being discussed by producers and suppliers at the exhibition.
