Dehorner cuts costs

A battery powered dehorning device that is quick, safe, effective and less stressful at dehorning is now available.

Horn'up from Dairy Spares takes just seven seconds and does not involve physical removal of the bud. The device is heated up to 700C and instead of removing the horn bud, blood vessels surrounding it are cauterised leaving the bud to die.

With a fully charged battery a minimum of 40 calves can be de-horned, with an effected battery life of 15,000 claves. The technique is recommended for calves less than 28 days old with a cost of £249.

For more information call Dairy Spares on 01948 667 676.
