Rearing and finishing partnership could benefit farmers in the North

Saturday 15 September 2012 06:30

A renowned beef rearing and finishing system will now be available for farmers to join in the Midlands, north of England and Wales thanks to a new partnership.

Blade Farming and Countrywide have joined forces enabling more farmers interested in supplying or finishing Angus cross dairy calves for the Blade system to get involved.

The new partnership will give farmers better integration within their businesses, said Countrywide chief executive John Hardman.

"Blade's track record is excellent, with more than 20,000 head of prime cattle now in the system, offering farmers a guaranteed forward contract, as well as a proven production system. Our relationship with Blade brings us closer to our farmer customers and offers real profit opportunities, which will be vital for the long-term sustainability of cattle production."

Blade Farming's Richard Phelps added: "Countrywide will assist us in growth into the Midlands, Wales and northern England, allowing us to efficiently utilise our processing facilities throughout the UK."
