Royal Highland Show 2014 – dates come forward
Dates for the 2014 Royal Highland Show have been brought forward by a week to enable thousands of school children to attend.
The 174th Royal Highland Show will be held at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, Edinburgh, from Thursday 19-22 June 2014.
This is a change from the previously announced show dates of 26-29 June.
The date change means the show will now take place ahead of schools in the area breaking up for the summer. More than 25,000 kids attended the 2013 show as part of a school trip.
“An integral part of the show is the some 250 school parties that visit the Children’s Discovery Centre as part of the Royal Highland Education Trust scheme,” said organisers in a statement.
“With the school holidays commencing between 25 and 27 June 2014 the organisers, the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland, have decided to bring forward the show by one week to enable the school children of Scotland to enjoy all the activities of the show.”
