To be held on the 7 & 8 November, at Newark and Notts Showground, entries for show have already topped the 100 mark and are well up on this time last year. With an under-cover limit of 700 vehicles, the organisers are urging exhibitors to get their entries in early.

Land Rovers, military vehicles echoing memories of both Great Wars, steam-powered threshing machines, road rollers and classic commercials, along with the hundreds of vintage and classic tractors, are bound to appeal to the staunchest of vintage enthusiasts.

There'll be an auction and also the event is home of the legendary Old Sodbury's Sort-Out, one for all the Land Rover fanatics amongst you...

Farming in the desert

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Just been speaking to Case IH and they told me about a project in southern Egypt which plans to put back into production 100,000 acres of desert.

The undertaking, which by the end of 2011 will see a projected production of 210,000 tonnes of wheat produced, is part of a plan to create a new fertile valley, all due to a network of irrigation canals which transport water from Lake Nasser.

Case IH are to supply 28 pieces of machinery, including Quadtracs, combines, wheeled tractors and cultivation equipment and also give consultancy advice on the project.

The Saudi Arabian investment company behind the development is Al-Rajhi International Investment Co, who plan to spend an estimated $400m in growing corn in Egypt and other African countries over the next two years.

This blog is all about farm machinery. You name it, we'll feature it and no matter how big or small - all kit has its place on here!

We'll be bringing you the latest news, gossip and also what it's like to go on some of these rather grandiose press launches (it's very hard work - honest!).

Sometimes, not everything goes to plan, and we'll post all the mess-ups that occur, too.

As well as UK news, there'll be a healthy dose of snippets from across the world, and pictures to boot.

We want your feed back, so please comment. And, if you come across something interesting, email me on emily.padfield@rbi.co.uk
