Carlisle lass named top of auctioneering class

Lynne Grieve of Harrison and Hetherington has been named the top student in the first year of a four year livestock auctioneering degree foundation course.

A farmer’s daughter from Hexham, Lynne joined H and H in 2002 and is currently a member of the firm’s field staff responsible for sourcing stock for sales at Borderway Mart. Alongside her role at the mart Lynne also runs a flock of 40 pedigree Texel ewes and is assistant secretary of the Solway and Tyne Texel Breeders’ Club.

The award, the Dick Harrison Award is given to the top student on the course run by the Livestock Auctioneers Association and the Institute of Auctioneers and Appraisers Scotland in memory of the late Dick Harrison, the manager of H and H’s Borderway Mart, Carlisle.
