Organics are ‘not more nutritious’
By FWi staff
THERE is no evidence that organic foods are safer and more nutritious than conventional varieties, according to the Food Standards Agency.
But the government agency report also disputed claims that organic crops were more prone to toxins from mould reports The Guardian.
The agency said there was not enough information to say organic foods are significantly different in terms of their safety and nutritional content.
Organic promoter and regulator the Soil Association said it was disappointed by the agency paper.
The organic market is growing by 40% a year and last year was worth 540m.
