Potato and root machinery maker Standen has bought the business and assets of farming equipment supplier Deptford Marketing of Sutterton, Boston, Lincolnshire.

It plans to transfer products and personnel to its specialist imported machinery company, Standen-Reflex.

Geoff Wright from Deptford Marketing will become salad and vegetable machinery sales manager at Standen and will continue to sell Simon, Steketee, Regero, Fedele, Briand, CM, ARC, Celli and Panunzio products.

Steve Baxter will continue to sell parts for a wide range of machinery from Deptford’s Sutterton base and will also be offering a repair, servicing and refurbishment service for a wide range of machines.

Meanwhile, Grimme UK has been appointed as the sole UK distributor for long-established British precision drill manufacturer Stanhay Webb, initially through its own retail outlets based at Swineshead, York, Shrewsbury and Ladybank.

Stanhay Webb was bought out of administration in March 2010 by a team of its former directors and management. The company has also recently completed a move to a new 70,000sq ft premises in Grantham and has retained all the previous workforce.

“This agreement with Stanhay Webb is good news for new and existing Grimme customers because we can now offer a total package from seed-bed to store for all types of root crops but notably sugar beet, where Grimme has seen a significant increase in machinery sales over the past three years,” says Grimme sales director Barry Baker.
