Former poultry unit in Cornwall for auction

A poultry farm in Cornwall offers the chance to set up a starter unit with privacy and the potential for other new enterprises.

Treglasta Eggs at St Clether, near Launceston, has planning permission for a mobile home and further poultry housing on its 18.20ha (45 acres). It will be sold by auction through Stags on 17 April, with a guide price of £200,000-£250,000.

The holding has a range of redundant former poultry buildings and bulk feed bins. Its relatively level pasture land is improved moorland with good drought resistance, although the land had not been farmed for a couple of years and would benefit from good cropping for a year or so, said David Robinson, of Stags.

Close to the northern fringes of Bodmin Moor, the land is in a ring fence with five well-fenced and gated fields.

A good natural water supply could be harnessed to create some form of water-based husbandry, while there is detailed planning permission from 22 May 2003 for the siting of a residential mobile home on site and for a further poultry house.

The former range of poultry buildings cover about 10,000 sq ft, with consent for a further poultry house of a similar size. Entitlements attached to the land will be transferred to the buyer. (Stags 01566 774 999)
