Retailer pledges deliver 0.595p/litre to 430 Muller milk suppliers

Milk price commitments by Lidl and Aldi mean that 430 milk producers supplying Muller Wiseman will see an extra 0.595p/litre in their September milk cheques.

The processor is the first to announce what the retailer commitments will mean for producers. These cheques will cover milk supplied in August by producers whose contracts are not aligned to specific retailers and will pay 22.35p/litre plus the 0.595p/litre retail supplement.

In mid-August both Aldi and Lidl said that from 17 August they would pay 28p/litre to processors for all liquid milk sold in its 574 UK stores and that they expected this to be passed back to the farmgate.

A spokesman for Muller Wiseman said that the payment would be shown as a separate item on milk statements and that September’s supplement should be higher as it would cover the whole month, rather than just two weeks as in August. The processor’s non-aligned liquid price remains at 22.35p/litre for October.

Muller Wiseman has a total of 1,200 milk suppliers.
