The wide range in dairy farmers’ costs of production has been highlighted by figures released by Defra. Analysis of the results of the 2015-16 Farm Business Survey show the average cost of production was 25.5ppl, against an average farmgate price of 25.3p/litre for the farms involved in the survey.
