Holstein takes Great Yorkshire dairy championship

A  strong show of dairy cattle, agreed by many ringsiders to be one of the best seen at Harrogate was led by the Holstein champion Saxelby Goldwyn Rose from Robert and Elaine Butterfield’s Ingleview herd, Bentham. 1272011 GYS Holstein Champ.JPG

This Braedale Goldwyn daughter gave 13,567 in her third lactation and is currently giving 54kg a day having calved her fourth in May. She is one of 120 cows milked by the Butterfields at home.

Reserve interbreed under judge James Warren was the Dairy Shorthorn champion Marleycote Barrington Iris 15 from David and Richard Baynes. She is classified VG88 and is giving 38kg a day in her second lactation, having given 6000kg in her first.1272011 GYS Dairy S Horn Champ.JPG

Interbreed heifer champion was Holstein Rivderdane Newz Sara from Messrs Armstrong and Nutsford, she is a Riverdane Word Newz daughter. Reserve to her was Dairy Shorthorn Churchroyd Bronte Wildeyes from the Collins family. She is a Stadel daughter.

Winning the interbreed team of five was the Holstein team ahead of the Dairy Shorthorn quintet.
