2600gns top at Lancaster Holsteins

Yesterday’s sale of Holstiens at Lancaster saw trade peak at 2600gns for a Shottle-sired heifer from Martin Bristol. This one, bred from the Anna family developed in the Lyons herd sold to the pre-sale show judge Ted Fearon.

Next top call went to James Burrow with his heifer Stardale Fawkes Stella 2 selling for 2450gns. This one was reserve champion from the show and sold to Neil Sanderson, Brampton, Carlisle.

Then Mr Fearon was back in the bidding again paying 2200gns for Peter Waring’s cow Winton Ace Meg. Bred from six generations of VG and Ex dams this one calved a fortnight ago and was sold giving 37kg/day. At 2050gns was an Aaron daughter from Richard Bainbridge’s Twinfields herd.

Averages; seven club cows £1474, 22 club  heifers £1814 (Norton and Brooksbank).
