Foot and mouth disease Temporary Control Zone set up in Hampshire

DEFRA has set up a 3km foot and mouth disease Temporary Control Zone around a farm near Petersfield, on the Hampshire/West Sussex border.

This is a precautionary measure following a veterinary assessment of clinical signs, but, if confirmed, it will be the first case of foot and mouth disease outside Surrey this year.

DEFRA is urging livestock owners to practice the highest standards of biosecurity, remain vigilant for signs of disease by examining livestock at least twice a day and report any suspicions immediately.
