Two students scoop farm health management award
An agriculture student from Myerscough College and a vet student from Cambridge have scooped the annual RABDF Farm Health Management Award.
Diane Gornall from Myerscough and vet student Emily Gascoigne picked up the award after writing a 1,500-word essay about proactive farm health planning on beef and dairy units.
The award was presented at the Livestock 2012 event at the NEC in Birmingham with both students receiving a £500 prize.
The judges said Ms Gornall’s essay “had the edge” and showed good use of research and an ability to analyse practical situations, while Ms Gascoigne’s approach was innovative and refreshing and she produced a most worthwhile essay.”
Runners-up of the award was Lucy Partridge, Plumpton College and Bobby Hyde, University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science.
