Agenda 2000 to aid deer and goat farmers?
DEER and cashmere goat farmers are hoping to share in the support for farming in less favoured areas (LFAs), following the recent Agenda 2000 agreement on reform of the European farm policy.
Both sectors have recently been consulted by UK agricultural departments.
The efforts of deer farmers could fall foul of tighter meat hygiene inspection regulations which are threatening a processing plant at Barnsley, North Yorkshire.
