Balmoral visitors urged to lobby

FARMERS attending the Balmoral Show in Belfast this week were urged to sign a petition calling on the UK government to recognise the plight of the local farming industry.

The petition, organised by the Ulster Farmers Union, will be presented to the Northern Ireland Executive and Downing Street. It called for the Prime Minister to take action to give farming families hope for the future.

UFU president John Gilliland said: "The UK government must realise the problems which our local farms and their families are experiencing and do more to safeguard their futures." &#42
