Best results from worming drenches

PLACING worming drenches over the sheeps tongue and into the back of the mouth will ensure optimum drug availability, according to a report in the Veterinary Record, Apr 19, 1997.

Unless the drench is put over the tongue there is a risk the oesophageal groove may close, causing the dose to enter the stomach rather than the rumen, so reducing its availability.

Small doses of wormers may also give more reliable results, says report author Des Hennessy of CSIRO division of animal production, Australia. &#42
