Blood pressure worrying you?

Blood pressure worrying you?

ARE you concerned about your blood pressure? If so, this is your chance to make a difference to your health and help The Dairy Council with its new 3-A-Day campaign.

It is looking for farmers who are keen to improve their blood pressure and general health by following a specially prepared diet plan. Are you up for the challenge?

The eating plan is known as the DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hyper-tension) and it involves eating three portions of low-fat dairy products each day, five portions of fruit and vegetables plus a low salt intake. The diet is based on US research which shows this can help reduce blood pressure.

The Dairy Council wants to make more people aware of the benefits of this diet and is launching a 3-A-Day campaign this summer to emphasise the importance of eating three portions of low fat dairy products each day.

Volunteers are needed to follow the diet for one month and then take part in media interviews to share experiences. A dietician will devise a day-by-day eating plan and work with your GP or practice nurse to monitor your weight and blood pressure.

Its an opportunity not to be missed if you want to improve your eating habits for good and become a more fit and healthy person – and of course you will be helping the campaign to be a success for the whole dairy industry.

Volunteers of all ages are wanted and will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis, depending on suitability. Inquiries Bev Cook Telephone 020-7659 7321 or b.cook@dairycouncil.org.uk
